This page explains what I store about you, why, and who helps me run the site. If you have any questions, email me at hello@jesshornsey.com.

Who is responsible

Jess Hornsey, address as in the Impressum, Vienna, Austria. Email: hello@jesshornsey.com.

What I store and why

Your account. Your first name and email address, when you joined and when you last logged in. I need these to run your account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Login links and the login cookie. When you ask to log in, I store a scrambled copy of a one-time code for 20 minutes. When you're logged in, your browser keeps one cookie so you stay logged in for up to 30 days. This cookie is needed for the site to work, so there's no cookie banner. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.

The newsletter. When you make an account, you agree to get an email from me when I post something new. I store when you agreed, the wording you saw, and when you confirmed it by clicking your first login link (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe any time, using the link in every email or in your account settings.

Your videos. Which videos you've bought or been given, and a reference to the payment. I need this to show you your videos (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Security. The login form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, my interest in keeping the site safe).

Who helps me run the site

Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) hosts the site, the database (stored in the EU), the videos (Cloudflare Stream) and sends login emails. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Stripe and Link handle payments. When you buy a video, Link (Sold through Link, LLC) is the seller. It takes your payment and billing details and sends your receipt, under its own privacy policy. I only get your email, what you bought and the amount.

Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) sends the newsletter. It gets your first name and email once you've confirmed your sign-up.

Check these details and add links to each company's privacy policy.

How long I keep it

Your account stays until you delete it. You can do that yourself in your account settings, and it removes your account and takes you off the newsletter. Records of purchases are kept for as long as tax law requires, without your name attached. Check the retention period with your Steuerberater.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of your data, to correct it, delete it, limit how it's used, move it, or object to how it's used. You can take back your newsletter consent at any time. If you think I've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Austrian Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).
